Ben Love
Ben Love, born in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya, moved to the UK with his mother at the age of 11. He was initially scouted to be a professional footballer, however, a great passion was tugging at his heart and mind, and at the age of 16, after seeing a performance by the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ben began his ballet training. He immediately discovered love and passion for dance and his talent was noticed, and an offer of a scholarship at the Arts Education School in London followed.
After completing his training in London, Ben had the opportunity to move to New York, to further his ballet technique and education. Ben became the first black male lead dancer with major European ballet companies including the Portuguese National Ballet, London City Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, and Norwegian National Ballet, taught several master classes in the UK and abroad, and choreographed independently. Later, he formed the Ballet Soul company, to infuse the love of ballet and his Kenyan roots.
